Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with Southern Highlands Wildlife Sanctuary

Meaningful conservation takes time, care, and community.

While the Southern Highlands Wildlife Sanctuary is still in its early growth phase, we’re building the foundations for a range of volunteer opportunities to launch in 2026 — aligned with our rescue, research, education, and habitat restoration work.

These opportunities will be carefully designed to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, scientific integrity, and safety — for both wildlife and people.

Right now, we’re inviting individuals who want to be part of this journey to register their interest.

If you’re passionate about protecting Australia’s native wildlife and would like to be involved when volunteer opportunities open, we’d love to hear from you.

Register your interest, and we’ll be in touch as opportunities become available in 2026.

Ways to Support

Help Us Protect the Wombats of the Southern Highlands

Wombats face increasing threats from disease, habitat loss, vehicle collision, and climate pressures. Your support allows us to expand care, improve facilities, and continue the hands-on work John has championed for over a decade.

Here’s how you can be part of it:

Donate

GIVE WILDLIFE A FUTURE

Not everyone can be on the ground, but everyone can make an impact. Your donation directly supports wildlife rescue, habitat protection, research, and education across the Southern Highlands. Every contribution helps us secure land, expand care facilities, and protect species at risk.

Volunteer

BE PART OF THE WORK ON THE GROUND

Volunteer opportunities will become clearer as we press on in our work locally. No matter your background, there’s a place for you in our conservation community. Whether it’s helping restore habitat, support education programs, assist with events, or contribute to citizen science, your time will make a real difference.
